Quantum critical scaling in a moderately doped antiferromagnet.

چکیده
Using high temperature expansions for the equal time correlator S(q) and static susceptibility χ(q) for the t-J model, we present evidence for quantum critical (QC), z=1, behavior at intermediate temperatures in a broad range of t/J ratio, doping, and temperatures. We find that the dynamical susceptibility is very close to the universal scaling function computable for the asymptotic QC regime, and that the dominant energy scale is temperature. Our results are in excellent agreement with measurements of the spin-echo decay rate, 1/T2G, in La2CuO4, and provide qualitative understanding of both 1/T1 and 1/T2G nuclear relaxation rates in doped cuprates. Quantum phase transition induced by Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interactions in the kagome antiferromagnet
We argue that the S=1 /2 kagome antiferromagnet undergoes a quantum phase transition when the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya coupling is increased. For D Dc the system is in a moment-free phase, and for D Dc the system develops antiferromagnetic long-range order. The quantum critical point is found to be Dc 0.1J using exact diagonalizations and finite-size scaling. This suggests that the kagome compound...
متن کاملDensity-Matrix Renormalization-Group Analysis of Quantum Critical Points: I. Quantum Spin Chains
We present a simple method, combining the density-matrix renormalization-group (DMRG) algorithm with finite-size scaling, which permits the study of critical behavior in quantum spin chains. Spin moments and dimerization are induced by boundary conditions at the chain ends and these exhibit power-law decay at critical points. Results are presented for the spin-1/2 Heisenberg antiferromagnet; an...
متن کاملOrder-disorder transition in a two-layer quantum antiferromagnet.
We have studied the antiferromagnetic order – disorder transition occurring at T = 0 in a 2-layer quantum Heisenberg antiferromagnet as the interplane coupling is increased. Quantum Monte Carlo results for the staggered structure factor in combination with finite-size scaling theory give the critical ratio Jc = 2.51 ± 0.02 between the inter-plane and in-plane coupling constants. The critical be...
متن کاملDynamic scaling in the susceptibility of the spin-1/2 kagome lattice antiferromagnet herbertsmithite.
The spin-1/2 kagome lattice antiferromagnet herbertsmithite, ZnCu(3)(OH)(6)Cl(2), is a candidate material for a quantum spin liquid ground state. We show that the magnetic response of this material displays an unusual scaling relation in both the bulk ac susceptibility and the low energy dynamic susceptibility as measured by inelastic neutron scattering. The quantity chiT(alpha) with alpha appr...

We show that a topological gauge structure in an effective description of the t-J model gives rise to a global phase diagram of antiferromagnetic (AF) and superconducting (SC) phases in a weakly doped regime. Dual confinement and deconfinement of holons and spinons play essential roles here, with a quantum critical point at a doping concentration xc ≃ 0.043. The complex experimental phase diagr...
